Getting Started

What is PlanInsight?

PlanInsight is a property intelligence platform for developers, engineers, surveyors, and town planners across Australia. Look up any property to retrieve:

  • Title & cadastre data — lot number, plan number, land area, tenure type
  • Development applications — fetched from 46 councils in QLD, NSW, and VIC on demand, cached monthly
  • Underground service enquiries — BYDA enquiries lodged on your behalf
  • Government planning reports — NSW, VIC, ACT, and QLD supported
  • Land valuations — QLD live, NSW coming soon

How do I get access?

How is DA data fetched?

Fetched from each council when you look up a property. We cache results for one month so repeated lookups are fast; the property page shows the fetched-at date and you can trigger a refresh if needed.

What property data is available in my state?

  • QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS, SA, ACT, WA, NT — property title, lot/plan, land area, tenure type
  • QLD — land valuations (live)
  • NSW — land valuations (coming soon)
  • QLD, NSW, VIC — development applications (council-dependent)

How accurate is the data?

We source property data directly from state government systems and council APIs. DA data is fetched live on each property lookup.


Features

What are underground service enquiries?

When you’re planning works near a property, you need to know what utility infrastructure is underground. Normally this requires manually submitting a form to Before You Dig Australia (BYDA). PlanInsight lodges a BYDA enquiry on your behalf and downloads utility response PDFs when ready. Responses are valid within BYDA’s 30-day dig window. For project-specific excavation compliance, you must lodge your own BYDA enquiry.

Do you offer email alerts?

No — notifications are in-app only. When new development applications are found for properties you’ve bookmarked, you’ll see a notification next time you log in.

Can I export data?

Not currently. We’re focused on the in-platform experience for the initial launch.

What’s the task board?

A full Kanban board built into PlanInsight for managing property-related work. Tasks move through five stages — Backlog, To Do, In Progress, In Review, and Done. Each task has a title, description, priority (Low/Medium/High), due date, assignee, and labels. You can link any task directly to a property address in PlanInsight, so your team always knows which site a task relates to. The board is shared across all team members and includes search and filtering across all tasks. Available on Team and Business plans.

Yes — each task has a property field that links directly to a property in PlanInsight. When you open the task, you can navigate straight to that property’s title, DA data, and reports.

Can team members comment on tasks?

Yes — every task has a rich text comment thread. Bold, italic, strikethrough, and links are all supported. Use comments to log decisions, share notes, or keep relevant context attached to the work.

Do you have a property map?

Yes — every property view includes an interactive Leaflet map with the property boundary highlighted and zoomable satellite imagery.

Are there usage limits?

No. We don’t meter DA searches, property lookups, or report generation.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes — cancel from your account settings, no penalties or long-term contracts.

Do you offer annual billing?

Yes — save 20% with annual billing. Contact us to switch.
