Fetched from each council when you look up a property. We cache results for one month so repeated lookups are fast; the property page shows the fetched-at date and you can trigger a refresh if needed. Properties you watch are re-checked every night, and you get an alert when a new application is lodged.
We source property data directly from state government systems and council APIs. DA data is fetched from the council on lookup and cached for a month, with the fetched-at date shown on the property.
When you’re planning works near a property, you need to know what utility infrastructure is underground. Normally this requires manually submitting a form to Before You Dig Australia (BYDA). PlanInsight lodges a BYDA enquiry on your behalf and downloads utility response PDFs when ready. Responses are valid within BYDA’s 30-day dig window. For project-specific excavation compliance, you must lodge your own BYDA enquiry.

A full Kanban board built into PlanInsight for managing property-related work. Tasks move through five stages: Backlog, To Do, In Progress, In Review, and Done. Each task has a title, description, priority (Low/Medium/High), due date, assignee, and labels. You can link any task directly to a property address in PlanInsight, so your team always knows which site a task relates to. Yes, every property view includes an interactive Leaflet map with the property boundary highlighted and zoomable satellite imagery.
Each hazard layer has a tick box in the Hazard Overlays panel on the map, and an eye icon in the Hazard Overlays section further down the property page. Ticking one draws it over the parcel; unticking removes it. Flood layers that affect the lot are already on when the page opens, and the rest are off so the map stays readable.
Layers that do not affect the lot are still listed, greyed out, so you can see what was checked rather than guessing. Panning or zooming beyond the stored area switches that layer to the council’s live service, so it keeps drawing across the wider view.
Flood, bushfire, landslide, coastal and acid sulfate soils, depending on what the state and council publish. Each overlay names its own source and the date it was fetched, at the bottom of the Hazard Overlays panel.
Where a council publishes its own flood study, it replaces the statewide layer for that hazard, because a council study is usually the better of the two. Hazard overlays are indicative and are not a substitute for a council flood search or a registered survey.
